I started this project in 2006. I was walking in my neighborhood and started to notice so many toys thrown out in the street. I felt terrible, to me in spite of their missing eyes or torn ears, they were still very beautiful. I decided to photograph them, giving them another chance to be alive and loved. I decided to add aged toys to the project that some of us are still keeping. Friends who I told about this project wanted me shoot their beloved toys too. It was so amazing to see how many of us are still attached to our old toys. It is like I am the fairy from "Velveteen rabbit" as my friend Mimi says.
